Our methodology
How the Solera Score Works
Every product card on SoleraEase carries a Solera Score: a five-dimension grade on a 0-10 scale that summarises how we judged the pick against everything else we considered.
The composite
The single number at the top of each card is the editor's composite. It is informed by the five dimensions below but it is not a strict average. Reviewers can weight a dimension differently for a given product class, because the most important trade-off varies (a budget pick is judged on value and breadth more than on premium build).
The five dimensions
Relief Speed
How quickly a reader who acts on the recommendation feels the intended benefit. A short break-in period, predictable setup, and out-of-the-box readiness all push this score up.
Long-Term Outcome
How well the product holds up under sustained, real-world use. We weight published long-term reviews, warranty terms, and known failure modes more heavily than first-impression praise.
Build Quality
Materials, fit, and finish judged against products in the same price band. We do not penalise a budget pick for lacking premium finishes; we penalise a premium pick for skipping them.
Value
Outcome delivered per dollar. A pick can score high here at any price point if its trade-offs are honest about what the reader is paying for and what they are giving up.
Use Case Breadth
How many distinct reader situations the product covers well. A specialist that nails one use case can still earn a strong score elsewhere; this dimension specifically rewards range.
What we deliberately do not score
The Solera Score does not include brand prestige, marketing-cycle hype, or anything we cannot ourselves verify from a published source. Where a star rating appears next to the Solera Score it is sourced from a named third-party publication. See the citation on the rating itself.
How scores change over time
Scores are revisited whenever a review is refreshed. A product whose long-term outcome turned out worse than first impressions suggested will lose points; one that ages better than expected will gain them. The change is reflected on the product card the next time the page is republished.
